The Pains of Being Pure at Heart with Fear of Men, Ablebody //
The Independent — San Francisco
March 6, 2014 (Tuesday) //

Known for a sound that melds indie & pop sensibilities, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart thrive strongest when their music transcends into noise/shoegaze territory. What else do you need to know to be interested in checking out this New York-based group perform live? Will previewing much of their forthcoming record, Days of Abandon, a full week before the album is unleashed May 13th put it over the top? Well it should, as the two released cuts “Simple & Sure” and “Eurydice” promise a solid album (listen below).

Add in Fear of Men as a supporting act to make this outing a proper ‘two-for’. Fear of Men just released their excellent debut LP, Loom, which flits between dire philosophical observations and listless melancholia, riding melodies so carefree that anguished sentiments come off more like lazy sighs. Also plan on getting to the Indy early for Ablebody this Tuesday.
