The art of whistling is rarely used anymore in contemporary music. Whistling sets a whimsical, light-hearted tone, often projecting a happy-go-lucky state of mind. Whistling simply helps to keep things positive.

create a great article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get nearly
anything done.

I came here looking for a catchy tune that is not in the list but I finally found it. It’s a dance song from the 80’s, quite popular in its day: “Street dance”, by Break Machine.

Why isn’t this on the list
Nice list, some I wouldn’t have on there because I believe they’re oboes or synthesizers but I may be wrong. One I would have on there, however – is Ennio Morricone – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Whistling at its best.
I totally agree, although i believe its For a Few Dollars More. The same whistler did the intro to Lone Wolf Mcquade with Chuck Norris and David Carradine, also a Homeage to the Great Spaghetti Westerns.
The Walker by Fitz and The Tantrums
Should DEFINITELY UNDOUBTEDLY be on this list. It’s so damn catchy I can’t get it out of my head.

You guys missed out on the best of all. Roger Whittaker – Finnish Whitsler
You need to add the wonderfully happy/creepy chemical brothers track; The Devil is in the details. If you’ve seen the movie Hanna you’ll know what i mean and if you haven’t go give it a watch and enjoy.

Daedelus – Bright Stars
take all the stupid hipster songs out and you got a decent list but as other have said some pretty obvious ones lift off the list and Bird is #1 is just wrong, should be below GNR and Paul Simon should be above both, Pumped up kicks is new but definitely needs to be on there.
Where’s the theme to the Andy Griffith Show?
Triniti (Titoli) From Django Movie. Simply awesome : )
How ’bout this oldie…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SH37ksKseg
Used to listen to it on the radio while my mom was ironing in the kitchens….. 1950’s.
Thank you for the tip about DJ Riko Whistler’s delight, I got it for my conure parrot and he loves it and now it’s trying to whistle!
Let’s not forget “Pumped Up Kicks”, “Moves Like Jagger”, “The Lazy Song”, “Winds Of Change”, “I Wanna Go”, “Good Life”, etc. I think those were pretty good, in a matter of opinion.
Oh, thank you so much! I felt so silly Googling “What’s the name of that song that starts with whistling”, but it had been on my mind all day since I just heard the whistling coming from a stranger’s cellphone, while walking past. You are the only one who lists “Winds of Change”. Big sigh, question answered. Knew I knew it, and really well – love that song! Thanks for not making me feel daft anymore…
Nice selection!
This tune would’ve had its place in it, I think https://soundcloud.com/belleclose/questionmarks-first-demo 🙂
