Chi-town mashup giants Aaron Brink and Steve Reidell, aka The Hood Internet, bring their legendary remixes to the Mezzanine this Saturday with support from MPHD, Sad Andy and Nanosaur. Former bandmates-turned-producers inspired by the innovative stylings of Girl Talk and Them Jeans, Aaron Brink and Steve Reidell met in college and self-released their debut tracks as The Hood Internet on their self-titled music blog, starting in 2007. Gaining near immediate traction, New York picked up on their Midwest mixtapes and helped further promote the duo’s unique blend of indie-rock and hip-hop samples into the mainstream, ranking on media year-end “Best of” and Top 10 lists nationwide. Beyond dominating the first decade of the 2000’s mashup game, The Hood Internet also landed corporate sponsorship from the prolific N.Y. streetwear brand Mishka and released a studio album on the Decon Label in 2012. A guaranteed dance party, setting off the evening with a Hosted Russian Standard Vodka Bar from 9-10 p.m., this night will be a perfect warm-up for NYE festivities and one surely not to miss.
