Formed by musical married couple Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, The Besnard Lakes deal in moody ambiance through their floaty instrumentals and modulated harmonies. The Canadian indie group tours as a foursome, and they’ll be blasting away at Brick & Mortar Music Hall Thursday, November 14.
They are on the road in support of Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO, their fourth full length album, which has been nominated for the 2013 Polaris Music Price (the Canadian version of the UK’s Mercury Prize). Many of the songs on this record tread close to six minutes in length, likely spurning possibilities for radio play but allowing for a methodical pace and extended outros that only enhance in a live music environment.
Members of the elite indie label Jagjaguwar, The Besnard Lakes will build a song slowly then smack you in the face with a swirling wall of sound, only to repeat and do it again. If you’re into that, get on this show!
