Bay Area fans of funk music are rejoicing as the region is receiving a second dose of The Budos Band in the month of July. The New York City funk-punk collective returns to Northern California after two massive sets at High Sierra Music Festival (read our recap here) just a few weeks ago and is ready to bring that heat down the mountain and into the City. If you’re not familiar, this act churns up some seriously driving, instrumental funk that burrows deep into your bones. Fans can expect a variety of tunes — old and new — as the band announced the release of its fourth full-length album Burnt Offering, due out October 21st on Daptones Records. The 10-piece act is set to hold court for “An Evening With” at The Independent this Wednesday, and we have passes for a few lucky readers. -Kevin Quandt
