The Birds are heading back to their home base where it all started this weekend as Dirtybird’s BBQ series returns to SF on Sunday with performances from Justin Martin, Worthy, Christian Martin, J.Phlip, Ardalan and of course, the godfather of it all, Claude VonStroke.

There’s sure to be plenty of house music mixed with hip-hop, techno and funk being played throughout the day on Treasure Island, and to get you ready for the big party, we’ve curated our own playlist below.

In addition to some saucy sets, Dirtybird will be firing up the grills once again in 2017 and providing another tasty food lineup. The SF record label is also bringing back its “Best In Show” contest, so get those costumes and totems ready and don’t forget to purchase your ticket to the 21-and-over event here before it’s too late.

Getting excited for all the festivities? Make sure to check out our coverage from last year’s Dirtybird BBQ in SF here.

Montreal two-piece Chromeo performed a late-night DJ set at 1015 Folsom last Friday. The duo comprised of David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel are best known for putting on their energetic live shows, but they didn’t disappoint while manning the decks in SF either.

Playing remixes of all their hits, these two Canadian funk lords offered a funky-house vibe for all to enjoy. And to no one’s surprise, the place was jumping until the very end of the night as fans showed off their “fancy footwork.”

Walking down the stairs into Love + Propaganda, the newly remodeled club where Vessel was once located, served as a brief reminder of all the top-notch electronic music acts that SELECT Entertainment has been bringing to Union Square recently.

After two nights of Disclosure at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, Jack Beats were a nice change of pace last Saturday. With the room at capacity to catch the duo of DJ Plus One and Beni G hit the decks, it turned out to be one hot, sweaty evening in SF.

Since releasing their One Love Remixes EP last year, Jack Beats have followed that short studio effort up with another, entitled Work It, back in March on Los Angeles-based event series and record label Night Bass. The twosome’s current 16-date, North American tour has so far seen them perform everywhere from Miami to Las Vegas, with four shows in the state of California booked before wrapping things up in Toronto next weekend.

Shlohmo takes his SF fans at Mezzanine for a spin

Shlohmo’s headlining show in SF last Saturday proved to be an intimate event co-presented by Mezzanine and concert subscription-based app Jukely.

To kick off the night, local DJs ChaunceyCC and Marco de la Vega played back-to-back sets, leading into a hip-hop-fueled performance by Dj Dials before it was Shlohmo’s turn to take the stage.

As soon as Shlohmo (born Henry Laufer) jumped on the decks, the mood shifted to a dark red, much like when we watched him perform his first live band tour in his native Los Angeles last year (see more photos from the show here). With the venue packed from the front to the back, Shlohmo played everything from his original tracks to even some Lil B.
