The Queen of “bounce” and current twerk Guinness World Record holder Big Freedia will be bringing her NOLA flavor to the Independent Friday along with her team of booty bouncing divas. The transgender rap superstar will be lighting up the stage along with openers DJ Morale and Nanosaur. A festival favorite, Freedia has catapulted from local fame in the Parishes of New Orleans to a nationally recognized genre-defining celebrity in less than two years.
Freedia has rapidly propelled herself into the mainstream music scene, riding off the success of her 2010 debut Ep AV/Scion presents Big Freedia, along with numerous industry wide collaborations and ass shaking singles. She continues to push artistic boundaries musically and otherwise, even going as far as to release a “Booty Battle Video Game” hailed by Forbes Magazine as “everything a great game should be.”
