Summer is officially here and festival season has been going strong for a few months now, but with the 17th year of Outside Lands six weeks away, the three-day affair will be here again before you know it.

In the meantime, this year’s OSL’s night shows have been revealed and for the first time will begin the prior weekend. Five days before the fest begins, British electronic musician Floating Points kicks things off with a live performance at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Sunday, August 3rd that includes support from Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore.

The action then resumes a day before OSL 2025 on Thursday, August 7th as Still Woozy headlines The Independent, Fujii Kaze takes the stage at Bimbo’s 365 Club and Fcukers tear up Rickshaw Stop. Other highlights on the 2025 late-night schedule include Thundercat, BLOND:ISH and Black Coffee if you are looking for more live music and didn’t get your fill at Golden Gate Park. Check out the poster above and our schedule below for more details.

It’s also worth noting that after the number of night shows in 2024 jumped to a total of 16, there are a few less this time around. At 13 though, it’s still more than the 12 that were booked in 2023. Six of the seven venues used for these OSL night shows will be in SF, with this iteration including the first to be held across the bay and as aforementioned, days in advance of the main event.

If this news has you itching to go, tickets for Floating Points (Live) at the Fox are already on sale so don’t wait until it’s too late! There will be a presale for the remaining OSL night shows this Thursday, June 26th before tickets go on sale to the public Friday, June 27th at 10 a.m. PT. Those of you who have purchased festival passes before will receive priority access so keep an eye out for that email when it arrives in your inbox!

Jumping ahead of schedule again, Coachella shares 2025 set times for both weekends while also adding Weezer & Ed Sheeran

As the calendar flips from March to April, those of us who are live music fans in Southern California know that means we are only days away from Coachella’s next installment.

The 24th edition of Goldenvoice’s signature event is almost here, and though the renowned concert promoter has been known to wait closer to the festival to release set times, it has jumped a few days ahead of schedule, which organizers also did by unveiling this year’s lineup in November rather than January shortly after celebrating the new year. There’s still several days to go before Coachella’s first weekend, but check out the full schedule below before heading to the desert next week.

What’s different in 2025 is set times for both weekend are being revealed beforehand, yet much like in 2024 with Vampire Weekend (Weekend 1) and Kid Cudi (Weekend 2), 2023 with blink-182 (Weekend 1 and 2) and Four Tet x Fred again.. x Skrillex (Weekend 2), and then of course in 2022 with Arcade Fire (Weekend 1) for the first time, there will be two more special guests, both on a Saturday at the Mojave Tent, as Weezer rocks Weekend 1 and Ed Sheeran fills a similar afternoon slot for Weekend 2.

That’s not likely to be the only surprises in the desert, though. With acclaimed hip-hop DJ and producer Mustard hitting the massive Sahara Tent at 11:50 p.m. on Friday while Lady Gaga headlines the fest for the second time in her career after replacing Beyoncé in 2017, we can only guess that Kendrick Lamar will be making an appearance after the two linked up in New Orleans less than a couple of months ago for the award-winning emcee’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show.

The other piece of news that comes with the schedule drop is which day Travis Scott will be performing. Originally booked to headline in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic put the kibosh on such plans and the disaster that would unfold a year later at Astroworld Festival (or Diastroworld as we like to call it), the chart-topping rapper — listed toward the bottom of the poster similar to how No Doubt, Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia were the last three years despite being labeled this time as some sort of visionary who “designs the desert” rather than someone who merely returns to it — will follow Saturday headliner Green Day on the main stage and begin his special set at 11:40 p.m.

A few days later, Coachella has put out this year’s map and the big change is Quasar trading places with the Do LaB. While both of the aforementioned stages focus specifically on showcasing electronic music, the location change does signal an upgrade for Quasar after last year’s debut by now having its own designated area/corner. If you are looking to dance in more comfortable temperatures though, the air-conditioned Yuma Tent on the other side of the polo fields by 12 Peaks is always a good option day or night.

Hey, who doesn’t believe in second chances?

Bay Area fans of Tyler, the Creator certainly felt cheated in 2024 when the Grammy-winning rapper had to cancel his headlining performance at Outside Lands due to “personal reasons” less than two months before it was scheduled to take place, but they can forget all about that with the lineup for the three-day event’s 17th year featuring his return this August after being revealed almost a month earlier than usual.

Along with the aforementioned headliner, the other acts receiving top billing at OSL 2025 will be Hozier and Doja Cat as the festival mixes hip-hop with folk, soul, blues, rock and pop after replacing Tyler, the Creator with Sabrina Carpenter a year ago.

Another stacked undercard, meanwhile, boasts appearances by Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Vampire Weekend (performing two sets — one during the day and another in the evening — as you can see from the sun and moon icons next to their name at the bottom of this year’s poster), Glass Animals, Gracie Abrams, Jamie xx, Doechii and Gesaffelstein. They aren’t the only names standing out and worth mentioning here, though.

Goldenvoice fills up the rest of April with 2025 Coachella sideshows

Ah, it’s that time of the year again … you know, when February showers bring April flowers?

We know that’s not exactly how the idiom goes of course, but with heavy storms this week bringing floods and mudslides to Southern California only a month after wildfires wreaked havoc all over Los Angeles, getting even a sliver of positive news is always nice to help uplift our spirits.

So as Coachella approaches after catching a lot of us off guard by revealing its 2025 lineup quite a bit earlier than usual, Goldenvoice has once again filled up the spring concert calendar with another list of sideshows in support of the famed music festival.

This is usually the week that Paul Tollett and company unveils those plans, and for those of you who aren’t interested in making the trek out to the desert for three days in the hot, scorching sun or quite understandably just don’t have the budget to make that happen right now, fans of live music can still have a taste — or multiple tastes if they are inclined — of Coachella all while not having to ever leave the confines of LA County.

Much like the 2024 sideshows, this year’s will be extending north to the Bay Area. After booking almost a dozen “Goldenvoice Presents April” dates in and around SF a year ago, the renowned promoter has continued the trend with 15 performances scheduled over a two-week stretch from Friday, April 4th to Saturday, April 19th during what we used to call Fauxchella before officially joining this annual series a year ago that began in 2012.

Also different from last April is the fact that not many sideshows will be taking place down south in San Diego after the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay, among others, played host for the first time. Mostly venues owned and operated by Goldenvoice in and around LA will be used this time, with some of the farthest ones like The Glass House and Fox Theater Pomona extending east into Tollett’s old stomping grounds. Unfortunately if you enjoy a good gig out in Pioneertown at Pappy & Harriet’s (read our First Times coverage here), you will have to find another time to visit the famous biker haunt with it no longer being in the equation … at least for now.

Along with Blonde Redhead at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, kicking off the SoCal festivities on April 9th will be The Dare and Kumo 99 at The Glass House while The Go-Go’s rock The Roxy and Thee Sacred Souls headline the Fox Theater Pomona. But what really stands out right away is Basement Jaxx (Live) at The Fonda Theatre as well as Portishead lead singer Beth Gibbons at the Orpheum Theatre on what appears to be a busy April 17th. And sure, seeing Miike Snow play an 800-person room like The Glass House wouldn’t be too bad either. If we just go by past numbers, the amount of sideshows is back up to 45 in total between LA and the Bay after scheduling 35 in 2024 and 32 in 2023 (by our count, the record is still 62 in 2017) and that’s certainly a good sign for all parties involved.

Christmas comes early for Coachella fans as Goldenvoice reveals 2025 lineup headlined by Lady Gaga, Green Day & Post Malone

Surprise! Just when you thought Coachella didn’t have any more tricks up its sleeve, the famed three-day music festival has caught us off guard once again — in this instance, by unleashing a lineup more than six weeks ahead of what we have normally witnessed.

It has become a New Year’s tradition over last two decades for Goldenvoice to pull back the curtains in early January and put out the renowned poster for its signature event every year, but after seeing Paul Tollett and company announce the roster for its country-themed festival Stagecoach in September and reports beginning to swirl this week once Post Malone let the cat out of the bag on his plans, maybe it shouldn’t come as a total shock that Coachella has given fans an early Christmas gift.

Leading the 24th edition will be Lady Gaga, Green Day and the aforementioned Posty, who dropped his 2025 tour schedule only a day ago with the first two dates booked for Indio this April and falling over the same two weekends Coachella had already locked down in the spring.

Of course we would be remiss to not also mention the fourth headliner listed at the bottom of the poster that Coachella instituted in 2022 when Swedish House Mafia returned to the desert. And although 2023 saw Calvin Harris hold down the spot before No Doubt reunited to fill it for 2024, Coachella has gone in the direction of hip-hop this time around with Travis Scott set to “design the desert.” For those who are wondering what exactly that means, a representative for the Grammy-nominated rapper has explained he will “debut an entirely new era of music” as well as curate a Cactus Jack takeover to create what he says will be “a fully immersive and experiential world within the desert.” No word on when Scott will hit the stage over Weekend 1 and Weekend 2, but we expect that to become clear in a few months once set times are released.

If you are sold on heading to the desert next year, Goldenvoice recommends that fans try purchasing tickets for Weekend 2. However, you can hop on the wait list for Weekend 1 here after both three-day GA and VIP passes go on sale here this Friday, November 22nd at 11 a.m. PT. It only takes $49 to get this party started! UPDATE (March 20th): We have our first artist cancellation this year, with Anitta citing “unexpected personal reasons” for the decision in a statement posted on social media. No word yet on who might replace the Brazilian singer-songwriter, but stayed tuned here for more details in the coming weeks.

Well, Coachellans … if you thought last week’s news that saw Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd replace Ye (fka Kanye West) as Sunday’s headlining acts was the only change before you head out to the desert, think again.

The three-day, two-weekend music and arts festival has surprised us all in revealing set times for its 21st edition just a little more than 24 hours before it begins — the latest they have ever been released — and casually including Arcade Fire, which was not listed on the official lineup poster, at the Mojave Tent on Friday. If you’re hoping to catch what should be an epic performance from Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and company during “magic hour” and likely hear some new tunes off their upcoming sixth studio album WE that arrives in May, we would recommend getting there early before 6:45 p.m.

And while there are always hard decisions to make at Coachella, it only gets tougher with the Grammy-winning band added into the mix.

UPDATE (April 16th): We’re only one day into Weekend 1, and there are already some shake-ups to the schedule starting with Madlib being unable to join Freddie Gibbs at the Gobi Stage due to personal reasons. Gibbs, nevertheless, will still perform solo at his scheduled start time of 9:35 p.m. Meanwhile over at the Sahara Tent a couple hours earlier, Tchami will now begin at 7:03 p.m. instead of 7:15 p.m. You can peep the latest set times for Saturday in the tweet above.

WEEKEND 2 SET TIMES

Arcade Fire are most notably missing from the Weekend 2 set times, but that’s not the only change that stands out if you’re comparing them to Weekend 1. Besides some changes to the early-afternoon slots as well as slowthai moving up and The Marías moving back to compete with Grupo Firme for some odd reason, another notable adjustment is Run the Jewels moving to Friday at 8:10 p.m. in the Mojave Tent after taking the Coachella Stage on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. during Weekend 1.

And as we saw last weekend with Shaina Twain, Justin Bieber, Damon Albarn, Snoop Dogg, Post Malone, Diplo, Khalid, Tyga, Saweetie, Metro Boomin and more all making cameos, Coachella has become a breeding ground for live collaborations and special guests so we’ll see if Weekend 2 has more surprises in store for fans after a star-studded return to the polo fields.

Less than four hours before the gates officially open at the Empire Polo Club, Coachella has finally shared this year’s map and it looks a lot like what we saw in 2019. But one change to the map that sticks out is the relocation of the Yuma Tent, which has moved farther away from the main entrance (though only slightly) and closer to the 12 Peaks VIP section adjacent to the Coachella Stage. Also, there’s only one way to access the Sonora, Gobi and Mojave Tents now as compared to prior years when guests could walk directly from the Sahara Tent to any of them, and while that might create for less foot traffic in the area near The Do LaB Stage, it will be a longer walk than before.

Coachella has long been considered to be one of the world’s best-run music festivals (and rightfully so), yet with Goldenvoice running behind schedule this week on the release of set times and other pertinent information, we’ll see how smoothly things go after a three-year hiatus for the concert promoter.

So whether you’ll be in Indio or watching the YouTube livestream on your couch, let’s hope there aren’t any other artists or bands canceling at the last minute.

Goldenvoice brings back Coachella sideshows for 2022

It’s Valentine’s Day once again, and Goldenvoice is honoring its long-running tradition now of unveiling Coachella’s sideshows in and around the greater Los Angeles area.

With the three-day, two-weekend music festival returning to the desert this April for the first time after a three-year layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert promoter has lined up a slew of gigs over a stretch of more than two weeks. And although most of the venues hosting will be the same as before outside of the newly added Sound Nightclub, two in Pomona — the Fox Theater and The Glass House — will be the home for a good chunk of them starting April 12th with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

The festivities, meanwhile, will officially kick off a few days earlier on April 9th when Rina Sawayama performs at The Fonda Theatre. In addition to the Japanese-born singer-songwriter, the following acts will also take the stage inside and outside of LA County:

Unlike in previous years, no TBA dates are listed this time or a special showcase like there was back in 2017 at the Palm Springs Air Museum the night before Coachella’s first weekend.

Since 2012, Goldenvoice CEO Paul Tollett and company have made a point of monetizing off Coachella more and more by adding these sideshows to its portfolio and despite the number of them falling to 34 in 2019 after scheduling as many as 53 in 2018 and 62 in 2017, this year’s slate has climbed to 44 in total even with an average of 160,000 new coronavirus cases being recorded in the U.S. each day. But while Goldenvoice may have finally found a “sweet spot” when it comes to how many sideshows to book each spring, it has always showcased an eclectic array of genres and 2022 will be no different with a Brazilian drag queen (Pabllo Vittar) and a self-described “techno marching band” (MEUTE) on the bill.

Other highlights worth sharing include LA four-piece Chicano Batman at the Fox Theater Pomona, two nights of Canadian instrumental trio BADBADNOTGOOD with Freddie Gibbs and Madlib at The Novo in downtown LA, 28-year-old R&B singer-songwriter Amber Mark at the El Rey Theatre and London-based producer Fred again.. at The Fonda Theatre.

Tickets for the sideshows go on sale here this Friday, February 18th at Noon PT with the rest of them available on Friday, February 25th at Noon PT or Friday, March 4th at Noon PT.

Coachella unleashes a new group of headliners after three-year hiatus as Harry Styles, Billie Eilish & Ye spearhead 2022 lineup

The wait is officially over.

Just a year after celebrating its 20th anniversary with Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande at the top of the poster, Coachella was primed to make another splash in 2020 with Rage Against the Machine headlining for the third time in the legendary band’s career and Travis Scott scheduled to make his headlining debut on the polo fields as well as Frank Ocean.

But the three-day, two-weekend event became one of the first large-scale music festivals in the U.S. — along with South by Southwest and Ultra Music Festival — that was forced to postpone its plans when the COVID-19 pandemic took the world by storm almost two years ago. Goldenvoice worked to quickly reschedule Coachella for October, though with coronavirus cases and deaths spiking out of control all over the country, another delay came in June, signaling the unfortunate reality that there would be no festival in the calendar year for the first time since 2000.

With the state of the pandemic in flux and the U.S. still operating without a vaccination program in place by early January last year, Coachella in 2021 quickly became a fantasy. Fast forward another year, and the famed California fest is finally ready to give it another go in April.

However, none of the previously announced 2020 headliners are still booked for its 21st edition in less than three months. Rage Against the Machine, for starters, dropped out despite the Los Angeles Times reporting last summer in an exclusive interview with Goldenvoice CEO Paul Tollett that the band would still headline and Scott was also pulled following his disastrous Astroworld Festival — or as some might like to call it, Disastroworld — performance back in November while Ocean is now expected to perform in 2023, according to the aforementioned LA Times report.

Instead, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Ye (fka Kanye West) will spearhead the 2022 lineup after reports circled last week about Eilish and Ye being in talks to headline and another surfaced only hours before the roster was unveiled regarding a commitment from Styles.

Swedish House Mafia, in the meantime, will return to Coachella for the first time in a decade since the electronic supergroup’s closing set on the main stage in 2012, although their appearance is not all that surprising thanks to this tweet back in October. Which day they’ll perform, however, is anyone’s guess right now.

Coachella has had a penchant for booking more international acts — from BLACKPINK to Bad Bunny — in recent years, and 2022 will be no different with Grupo Firme, Anitta, Joji and Karol G on the bill. UPDATE (April 6th): With less than two weeks to go, Coachella has revealed some changes to its 2022 lineup after reports surfaced earlier this week indicating that Ye (aka Kanye West) would not perform this year. Ye won a pair of Grammys a few days ago at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards and was scheduled to headline the festival on Sunday over both weekends but will be replaced by the previously announced Swedish House Mafia, who had yet to be assigned a specific day on the initial poster that came out back in January, and newly added The Weeknd — after his last appearance in 2018 — as co-headliners who will perform together as a new collaboration and something that neither Coachella nor many other music festivals have done before at the very top of the poster. That, of course, is the beauty of Coachella after all as Goldenvoice always finds a way to keep the programming fresh with new and exciting surprises.

Coachella reveals 2019 set times

It’s officially Coachella week, and we all know what that means: scheduling conflicts galore.

The three-day, two-weekend music and arts festival has revealed the set times for its 20th edition just after 11 a.m. PT (11:04 a.m. to be exact), about 16 hours later than it did in 2018.

Coachellans often have some tough decisions to make as to which artists they should see, and 2019 is no different in that respect. But if you’re headed to the desert this month, take a look at the set times below so you can survive all three days at the Empire Polo Club.

There are a few minor schedule tweaks for Weekend 2, as Big Game takes Friday’s opening slot on the Outdoor Theatre at 3 p.m. for Jimbo Jenkins, who has been moved to the Sahara Tent on Saturday at 12:25 p.m. More Saturday changes include More Fire Mondays replacing Gabe Real on the Coachella Stage at 1:50 p.m., CPTN KIRK taking Fundido’s spot in the Gobi Tent at 12:45 p.m. and Lealani kicking things off in the Mojave Tent rather than Yeti Out at 12 p.m. bright and early (and hot, most likely).

On Sunday, Ugly Primo will now be the first act — instead of Alf Alpha — to take the Coachella Stage at 2:15 p.m. while Subsuelo gets things started in the Mojave Tent at 1:40 p.m., replacing Ericalandia, and Cre-8 has been moved in place of R3LL in the Sahara Tent at 1:50 p.m.

UPDATE (April 18th): Christine and the Queens has canceled her Weekend 2 performance at the Outdoor Theatre, sadly due to her mother’s death. Héloïse Letissier announced the news on Twitter in her native tongue of French (see below).

A little more than four hours after releasing its Weekend 1 set times, Coachella unveiled this year’s map and it looks fairly similar to what we saw in 2018.

One of most notable differences is the relocation of the Gobi and Sonora Tents, which have traded places with the Indio Central Market and the Antarctica dome, the latter being one of the cooler (no pun intended) experiences that the festival has introduced in the past three years. The Heineken House, meanwhile, has also moved (next to Antarctica) and sits more tucked away from Coachella’s eight other stages than it ever used to be.

The Mojave Tent will continue to remain in its same location, with a few new additions to the area, including the Calvin Klein, Pantene and Peet’s Cold Brew tents. Believe it or not, there’s even a designated place where you can pick up your Postmates order. Ah, corporate sponsors … because what would America’s most Instagrammed music festival be without them now?

Coachella drops 2019 lineup with Childish Gambino, Tame Impala & Ariana Grande headlining 20th year

Sorry, Kanye West fans.

Hours after TMZ reported that the rapper would not perform at Coachella due to negotiations over his stage setup falling through, the renowned three-day, two-weekend music festival has announced the lineup for its 20th edition.

Headlining Goldenvoice’s signature event in Indio this time around will be Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande. While the first two acts had been previously rumored to top the 2019 bill with both expected to unveil new albums in the coming months, the inclusion of Grande comes as somewhat of a surprise (our guess is that she was likely tabbed to be West’s replacement). All three will headline Coachella for the first time, marking the second straight year that the festival has gone in that direction, although Tame Impala have performed on the polo fields several times in the past and as recently as 2015 (on the main stage before AC/DC). And for the record, Grande, at 25 years old, will be the youngest artist ever to headline.

The rest of Coachella’s 2019 roster, meanwhile, includes plenty of other household names, such as Janelle Monáe, Solange, Khalid, The 1975, Kid Cudi, Weezer, Bad Bunny, RÜFÜS DU SOL, J Balvin, Dillon Francis, BLACKPINK, Billie Eilish, CHVRCHES, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, YG, Kacey Musgraves, Juice WRLD, Christine and the Queens, Playboi Carti, Ella Mai, Wiz Khalifa and H.E.R. As you can see, the focus continues to be on hip-hop, pop and R&B while straying away mostly from rock. But unlike in 2018, there seems to be more electronic music once again with Zedd, DJ Snake, Gesaffelstein, Diplo, Aphex Twin, Dillon Francis, Kaytranada, Bassnectar, Four Tet, Cirez D (aka Eric Prydz), Chris Lake, Bob Moses, Gryffin, Jon Hopkins, NGHTMRE, Gorgon City, Nina Kraviz and even 90’s progressive-house duo Deep Dish receiving fairly high placement on the fest’s famed poster.

Coachella’s first weekend is scheduled for April 12th-14th, with its second weekend slated for April 19th-21st. All tickets will go on sale for both weekends this Friday, January 4th at 11 a.m. PT here.
